Taster’s Choice Final Competition Info

Judging Date: Saturday, January 7th, 2017

Time: 2pm – 5pm, winner announced at 6pm

What to Expect: Lots of fun, that’s what! There will be bands, cornhole, a food truck (TBA), plenty of Raleigh Brewing Company beer, and 4 of the best homebrews in the state. While Raleigh Brewing Company is an animal-friendly brewery, we are not allowing animals at this event as there will potentially be too many people in the brewery.

The way this competition works is that each participant will try a 4-oz sample of each homebrewer’s beer to properly judge their beer in relation to the other brewers. You will then cast your ballot and the ballots will then be entered into a Bordacount weighted system to determine the most worthy beer. This is why each public voter must rank the beers in order from 1 (highest) to 4 (lowest)

The brewer with highest weighted score will be named the Champion!

The Beers (TBA):

Participating Public Tasters

  1. Enter the taproom & pick up your ballot
  2. Sample each beer BEFORE marking your ballot
  3. Rank each beer based on your preference from first to last (ex; 1 = 1st, 2 = 2nd, etc). YOU MUST MARK ALL BEERS!
  4. PLEASE NOTE: If you fail to mark each beer with a number, your ballot will be thrown out. The purpose of this is fairness to all brewers.
  5. Submit ballot into one of the ballot boxes
  6. Hang around for the results!
  7. You’ll have 3 hours to make a decision but will only get a 4-ounce pour per brewer.

Winning Brewers

  1. We will contact you to schedule a brewday in our brewery; all beer for the finals competition must be brewed on-site at Raleigh Brewing Company to comply with ABC Regulations – if you need to use our brewing equipment to do so, we will arrange for an RBC/ABS employee to brew with you. You should strive to repeat the quality of the beer that won the 1st Place Best of Show quarterly competition. You will need to produce 10 gallons.
  2. You must be on time for the event and must bring all draft systems required to serve your beer (kegs, CO2 tank, lines, tap, etc.). You can use any configuration you choose to serve your beer (jockey box, handpump, etc.). If you don’t have homebrew kegs Atlantic Brew Supply can provide some for you.
  3. Feel free to design information cards explaining your beer, tap handles, or anything else creative. We love creativity!
  4. You are ineligible to vote but are more than welcome to try the other brewer’s beers.
